Beat the Bookies (Summer) Week 5

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/06/2013

TWO winners out of four continues to see us just about holding our own this summer with a small profit! The best winner was in the tennis where Benjamin Becker beat Alexandr Dolgopolov 2-0, With Wimbledon round the corner we could do with some winning tennis bets.

Football

  • Houston Dynamo v Toronto FC - away win (5.75, Sporting Bet). Toronto picked up their second win of the season last week in Washington and this week they head to Houston who are suffering a poor run, they haven't won in four games. Ignoring the league table Toronto are definitely the form team of the two over the last few games.

    Rugby League

  • Castleford + 10 v Hull FC - home win (1.91, William Hill). Hull have won 4 from 6 but they were well beaten by Catalans Dragons last time out. Even when they have won they've not scored heavily, they have only managed to score above 30 once in the last six, so a 10 point handicap to Castleford looks quite generous.
  • Bradford v Widnes - away win (4.95, Marathon). Widnes have won just 1 out of 6, the same as Bradford, but they have been very close to winning most of the matches which they haven't got 2 points in. Widnes even have a positive points difference for the last six games! They score lots of points, just have a habit of giving away the ball in crucial areas. If they play near the top of their games they should easily beat Bradford.

    Cricket

  • England vs India (ICC Final) - India (1.77, Marathon). Indians play one day cricket practically from birth and are the best in the world at it. England seemed to have done a "Germany" and stumbled into the final without playing particularly well in a lot of games. Sri Lanka thrashed England last weekend, expect more of the same from their neighbours.
