Grimsby v Alfreton Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 01/09/2013 (Last updated: 09/09/2013)

GRIMSBY welcome back five players from injury to give the club a boost after their indifferent start to the season. Strikers Ross Hannah, Lennell John Lewis and Liam Hearn and defenders Shaun Pearson and Sam Hatton have all recovered from their various injuries and illnesses.

The Mariners take on Alfreton, a club they have tended to do well against in recent years. The Mariners can't take anything for granted though as they have struggled to beat three sides all expected to finish in the bottom half of the table in the three matches to date and have won just one. It's a bit early to talk of a must win game after just four matches but Town will have a lot of points to make up if they don't beat Alfreton and have ambitions of finishing in the top 5.

ALfreton have plenty of ex-Mariners in their ranks. Bradley Wood this summer joined Nick Fenton and Darran Kempson in the Reds's squad, who of course are managed by ex-Grimsby boss Nicky Law. Alfreton have already beaten Kidderminster this season and beat Salisbury in their last game, with John Akinde bagging all three goals in a 3-2 win.
