Grimsby v Macclesfield Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/12/2013

PAUL HURST is sweating on the fitness of three players injured during the bruising clash at Lincoln. Scott Kerr (knee), Shaun Pearson (ribs) and Craig Disley (leg) are all on the treatment table following clashes with Imps players. Clayton MacDonald also missed the Lincoln game through illness, so is also a doubt.

Saturday's game with Macclesfield may come too soon for all four players, meaning Paul Hurst will be forced into substantial changes for the first time in the 14-match unbeaten run which Town have embarked upon.

Full back Paul Bignot is another player who will be missing after coming on as a sub at Sincil Bank and picking up his fifth yellow card of the season - an automatic one match suspension.

Paul Hurst may half to turn to some of the fringe players such as rookie defender Paul Walker, midfielder Andi Thanoj or winger Joe Colbeck. Full back Sam Hatton was an emergency centre back at Lincoln, and could also be called on again in that role.

Macclesfield have several injuries to contend with.

Town have only beaten Macclesfield once at Blundell Park in seven attempts. That was last year's 3-1 win, five of the other six games in Cleethorpes have ended in draws.
