Town Sign International

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/06/2014

GRIMSBY have acquired their second player from Southport this summer after they signed central defender Aristote Nsiala on a one year deal. Nsiala has one cap for Congo, where he was born, although he grew up in Paris and Liverpool.

The 6'4" defender was part of the Everton youth system but never got farther than being an unused substitute at Goodison. The 22-year-old went on to join Accrington and then Southport, where he played 19 games since his move in January.

Earlier midfielder Scott Brown made the transition from Southport to the Mariners, so there will be at least one familiar face in the dressing room.

Nsiala is remarkably the second Congolese international to play for Grimsby. Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala also played for his country during the 2004 African Nations cup, and was an unused squad player during the 2006 tournament when he was a Town player.
