Grimsby v Dover Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/08/2014

GRIMSBY are still decimated with injuries and suspensions for their inaugural match with Dover Athletic on Saturday. There were eight players missing on Tuesday night against Nuneaton and it could be a similar story against the Conference new boys from Crabble.

Centre back Shaun Pearson is available again after suspension, but ironically he may not get in the side because of the form of Andrew Boyce and Toto Nsiala in the heart of Town's defence on Tuesday night.

Scott Neilson is still suspended, and Jack Mackreth, Nathan Arnold, Ross Hannah, Jon-Paul Pittman, Chris Doig and Paul Bignot are all rated doubtful with injuries. Left back Aswad Thomas falls is hopeful of starting again after receiving a knock in Tuesday's game that forced him to go off. So Paul Hurst will have very little option other than to pick the only fit 11 senior players.

Dover, who like Grimsby have yet to score a goal, have a full squad to pick from. The Kent side had an excellent away record in the Conference South both last season and the one before, so Town must be beware of their threat. Their dangerman is gangly striker Ricky Modeste, who scored a hattrick in the play-off semi-final at Sutton earlier this year, despite Dover having a man sent off in the first minute of the game.
