Town Get Their Oates

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/09/2014

GRIMSBY claimed all three points at Kidderminster when new loan signing Rhys Oates came off the bench and scored a late winner. Kidderminster had earlier had the better chances and Town had McKeown for keeping them in the game on several occasions.

Paul Hurst made just one change from the side that got a good point at Halifax, with new loan signing Danny Parslow replacing Chris Doig in defence.

Town had a major let off when Kidderminster leading scorer Gash missed the outstanding chance of the game in the first half, firing wide with the goal at his mercy after a mazy run and shot by Johnson was saved by McKeown and bounced to Gash who snatched at the ball.

In the second half Kidderminster beat McKeown with a header from a far post corner, but Clay was there to clear it off the line.

Town came closest yet when a corner was headed onto the cross bar by Nsiala.

On 84 minutes Town took the lead with a tremendous finish. The ball was played to him by Brown, with his back to goal, but the Barnsley loanee turned and fired it low past the 'keeper to score on his debut.

It was a hard-working performance by Town who restricted Kidderminster to very few chances and had the quality to convert one of the few chances that fell to them.
