FA Trophy Bore Draw

GRIMSBY and Gateshead both failed to score in a disappointing FA Trophy game at Blundell Park, which seemed a long way from Wembley in front of just over a thousand supporters. There were very few chances or talking points in a game which resembled a pre-season friendly.
Nsiala and Magnay both returned for Town in defence, Craig Disley played in midfield and new loan signing Oliver Palmer partnered John-Lewis up front.
Arnold had two good chances for Town in a generally low-key half hour. Then Gateshead had an effort cleared off the line a few minutes before half time.
Early in the second half Chandler cleared a Pearson header off the line.
The game drifted to a dull and disappointing end and will go to a replay next week. A draw was possibly the worst case scenario for Town who don't need a long trip to Gateshead just three days before their big televised game with Barnet on Saturday lunchtime.
