GRIMSBY overcame Southport last night to maintain their pressure on to the top two. Padraig Amond scored his 29th goal of the season right at the start of the match and Town were dominant for the next 15 minutes.
However after a lengthy injury stoppage 15 minutes into the game the Mariners struggled to find their rhythm again and it was a much more even contest.
Thankfully the Mariners held on to claim another three valuable points and claim the double over SOuthport, a team they had never beaten before this season.
