Town Squad Breaking Up

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/06/2016

GRIMSBY Town's squad is rapidly leaving the club, following their successful promotion season last campaign. Toto Nsiala is the latest player to defect to another side, joining Hartlepool, after citing abuse received from supporters as at least part of his reason for leaving.

Only captain Craig Disley and 'keeper James McKeown have signed this season. Defenders Zak Mills and Danny Andrew have joined the Mariners, but Nathan Arnold, Padraig Amond and Richard Tait all have question marks hanging over their future at Blundell Park.

With pre-season training rapidly approaching Paul Hurst is going to have to sign at least a dozen new players in the next few weeks.

The exodus is partly a result of Grimsby's own success. Town's players have been associated with a successful side and other club's covet them. The Mariners are no longer in a division where they can outbid most of their rivals for players.

There is no shortage of players wanting to play for Grimsby, but Paul Hurst is going to have the difficult task of building a new side almost from scratch. All supporters can do is put faith in the side and back their team by buying season tickets and committing to attend games.
