Grimsby v Port Vale Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/03/2018

MICHAEL Jolley starts his first game in charge without several first team regulars. Paul Dixon (knee), Luke Summerfield (hamstring), and Charles Vernam are all going to be missing for several weeks.

Mallik Wilks, Simeon Jackson, Ben Den are all ruled out, and Karleigh Osborne is very doubtful. Town have a large squad though so the new Grimsby boss will still have to make choices all around the pitch as to who starts and who is on the bench and in the stands.

Grimsby have not won this year and have now gone 15 games without a win, during which they have picked up very few points and scored very few goals.

Port Vale is one of three home matches against the teams below Town in the table and is therefore of huge significance. Should Grimsby fail to win and other results go against them they will be very close to the relegation zone.

Vale are, after Town, the club with the second worst record in 2018 in League Two.

A large crowd is expected at Blundell Park to welcome Michael Jolley and cheer the team on as they enter the home straight.
