GRIMSBY continued their pre-season with a 1-0 win over League One side Doncaster at Blundell Park, with Jake Hessenthaler scorer a late winner. Mattie Pollock and Elliott Whitehouse had earlier go close for Town, who are just two weeks away from the season's opener.

Town's most serious injuries are Charles Vernam (ankle) and Harry Cardwell (calf), both are expected to be fit for the start of the season but will be short of fitness after a curtailed pre-season.

Earlier in the week, a young Town side has lost to Gainsborough in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup, which saw a first Town outing for Newcastle United on-loan defender Liam Gibson.
