Swindon Cruise Past Town

GRIMSBY were second best against leaders Swindon and deservedly lost 3-0. Poor defending resulted in all three goals and the Mariners are in free fall without a win since September.

Caretaker boss Anthony Limbrick has been unable to stop the rot and Town fans will be eyeing the Macclesfield situation carefully in case the final relegation place goes the way of the reprieve for the second bottom club which came due to the demise of Bury.

Town were 3-0 down at half time. The first goal was a slip by James McKeown which led to an easy save from Doyle spilling into the net. Yates then added a second with a deflection and then scored with a good turn and shot shortly after the break.

Toothless Town were unable to muster anything of note in the second half.

Grimsby fans must hope for some early Christmas cheer in they are to stop the rot.
