Cheltenham Match Cancelled

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/09/2020

GRIMSBY'S game with Cheltenham Town has been called off due to a first-team squad member contracting COVID-19. In a club, statement Town have said: "In line with medical advice received from the EFL, our own medical team and in line with Government guidelines, all players will now face a period of self-isolation at home."

Due to the lack of time between the test result and allowing for the incubation period of the virus, it was considering ineffective to test the rest of the squad.

It was reported in the local press this week that Jock Curran in self-isolation and waiting for test results, although the player has not been named in the statement.

Town's game with Cheltenham will be scheduled for later in the season. Town's home game with Bradford next Saturday will also now be in doubt.

Let's hope Town's squad and their families stay safe in this worrying time for them.

UPDATE: The club have confirmed that Jock Curran is the player who tested positive, the training ground is closed for 2 weeks and the league match with Bradford and the EFL Trophy tie with Hull will join the Cheltenham game in being postponed.
