The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Norwegian Trialist Named

By: Rob Sedgwick

Norwegian player Knut Anders Fostervold will be the latest foreign trialist to arrive at Blundell Park this weekend. The 29 year old left-sided defender, who plays for Norwegian club FK Molde, was discovered last weekend by the Town boss in his scouting mission to Norway.

Fostervold, who has four years left on his contract with Molde said today in an interview: "If I like the club and they like me, there is a good chance that I will sign. At the same time it isn't it a big loss if I stay in Molde. The family are having a good time here, and I enjoy being at the club.

"At the moment the choice is between Molde and Grimsby next season. But what happens between Grimsby is very unsure. After all I haven't been there yet. And of course football players are always open for new offers. The point is that Grimsby, next to Molde, is the only real offer I have at the moment.

"If I choose Grimsby it is to earn money. The excitement of playing football in another land is of course also counting a bit, but the economical part is most important" the Nowegian revealed.

Jostein Jensen, The Fishy's man on the ground in Norway has compiled the following dossier on the Molde defender:

Date Of Birth: 04.10.71
Height:189 cm (6'2)
Weight: 87 kilo (13st 9lb)
Posision: Defender (left or central)
Matches for Molde FK: 270
Previous clubs: Rival, Sandefjord, Stokke, Eik

This season has been a bit disappointing for Knut Anders after he had been the team's captain for several years, manager Erik Brakstad gave the job to another player. Now with Molde having a very sad season and ending as number seven in league will probably cost the manager, as we speak, his job.

He is a steady defender, strong and a leader. And he often goes on offensive runs. He is most familar with the 4-3-3 system from Molde where he have played for six years and have scored 10 goals in league in total.

Knut Anders Fostervold in short (for KAF's feinsmeckers):

Nickname: Fossi
No caps of any kind.
Favourite sport not football: Track and field
Favourite player: Mario Kempes, Argentina
Favourite actor: Sean Connery
Favourite artist: U2
Favourite holliday target: The Maldives
Favourite team in England: Arsenal
Favourite food: Fish

He is a local politician so if Grimsby have any trouble with getting the "Stadium of Fish" before, we may make the trial become a signing. His sister Guro Fostervold works for TV2 she is pretty enough for GTTV, surely...

In his spare time he enjoys spending the time with family, and he studies a bit and is keeping in touch with mates outside the football. Golf is a lower priority but he admits he play it sometimes!

This Season:

Fostervold has started in 24 of 26 league games with one outing as a substitute. He has scored one goal (versus Brann at home 26/07) and one assist. Fostervold has received 1 yellow card and 1 red card (versus Start away 07/05 in 90th minute). Fostervold got 4.33 in average on the "TV2-meter". Fostervold played in total 2144 minutes in league last season.
