Ambition and the Board

THE FISHY'S READERS have their say on the Town board and other matters following the sacking of Lennie Lawrence and the rapid appointment of skipper Paul Groves as Town's new manager.
Ambition by Angela.
Now LL has gone as has already been said "The King is dead, long live the King" Paul Groves should be given the opportunity, BUT how can the Chairman state on Radio Humberside that funds will be made available for the New Manager when they obviously weren't for his predecessor?
Furthermore it has been said that the current Board should go and the predecessors with it. What happened to the 'Plan' as I am led to believe was put in place by the two directors who left in the close season.
Did the current Board, who must have been aware of it previously throw it away on the departure of the former Chairman and Vice Chairman? Without some ambition, drive, and enthusiasm from the top we are destined for lower than the second division.
At last!!! by Timmy Boy.
At last he's gone yet it would still appear some people aren't happy...so what are you saying, one win in twenty is acceptable? Face the facts, LL didn't have a clue and to have done so poorly this season, the lads at the club must have lost confidence in him as well..Call me heartless but who cares about the manager?
What really matters is that whoever is in charge motivates the troops and starts getting them believing in themselves again..Grovesy might not have the experience but he is widely respected and that counts for a lot. Town are not going to turn their season around so easily, they must look to put together a decent run in order to keep in touch with our relegation rivals. However, with a cash shortage does Grovesy have his hands tied being his back already? If we do stay up what is the boards long term plan?
It would appear, as other supporters have stated, that the club is run by amateurs, so-called business-men, who should know that money is needed to bring in fresh faces. A great result against Pompey and let's get behind Mr Groves and wish him well with the mammoth task that awaits him!!
Goodbye Lennie by Ian Parratt
I can understand the frustration and concern regarding the recent managerial changes at Blundell Park, but there's no doubt that Lennie Lawrence had to go. The disastrous run of how ever many league games and only one win notwithstanding, LL's insistence in playing players out of position, his consistent employment of dodgy tactics and the lack of fight and commitment from the team were down to him.
Clearly, offering the reins to Groves and Rodger is a risk, and although it is based more on financial concerns than anything else, in Town's current situation I don't believe it's such a bad move. Yes, the Portsmouth result is only one game but could you see Town getting the three points with an apparently encouraging performance had LL still been in charge. The next few games will be key, but if the new management duo can restore a bit of pride and belief, there may yet be a happy ending to the season.
