Wayne Brown favours Hornets over Mariners

IT has emerged that Grimsby Town were interested in making an approach to bring Ipswich Town defender Wayne Brown to Blundell Park on loan. Brown had already enjoyed a three-month loan spell at Wimbledon earlier in the season.
The centre-half was keen to make the switch permanent but the Dons couldn't afford the deal. Norwich City made an approach for Brown before Christmas, but the Ipswich player has now joined Watford on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
"The Gaffer spoke to me on Tuesday and told me Grimsby and Colchester United had asked about taking me on loan and that Watford had enquired a couple of weeks ago." said Brown.
Grimsby Town recently recruited Wolves striker Robert Taylor on a one-month loan deal, but it seems manager Paul Groves was also interested in bringing in another central defender.
Both the player/manager and Ford shook off injuries to play against Rotherham on Tuesday night, and with Gallimore also filling in as part of a back three any move for Brown would have been with a view to provide cover in defence.
