Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Harry's Chin Wag - Week 5

By: Harry Ellis
Date: 17/11/2002

WHAT a let down it was to see Kabba end up at Bramall Lane, and here's us thinking all football clubs had no money to spend on acquiring players. It's always the same: Grimsby Town find players of Kabba's quality but they end up playing against us for other teams because our beloved club is skint!

Nice to see we have a new director on the board but will he be the answer to all our players, to be quite honest I think not because the directors we have wouldn't like a newcomer stealing their thunder, or is it the usual case of Mr Chapman being a mate of somebody who's on the board and he will use it as a drinking club and as an ego booster.

Nice to see that the team are starting to turn their fortunes around 5 games unbeaten and outside the bottom three, and looking like a football team again. I know that Grovesy would like to keep John Oster for the rest of the season, but I wonder if Sunderland will let us do that. For the team's sake I hope so if not it'll look like they've done another Kabba on us - recalled him then flogged him to another club.

Did people see our local paper last night where it mentions that Grovesy wants Boulding back to Blundell Park, and has spent the last few weeks tailing him. But would Quick Mick come back as he was eager to get away in the first place to play Premiership Football. Let's hope so then it would help to dampen down things after Kabba going, and would be a valuable asset to have, especially when you look at the first team squad and see the centre forwards we have at the moment!

Fancy Paul Raven being injured after being offered a loan deal at Scunthorpe. The way we're playing at the moment I think it would have been a good deal for him, but he rather spend the time at Lilleshall being treated for his mystery injury.

Don't forget the Supporters Trust meeting on Monday night. Get down there and let's get this off the ground and prove the Grimsby Town board wrong.
