TOWN reserves this evening beat their Lincoln counterparts 2-1 in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. Midfielder Alan Pouton made his first appearance of the season, coming on as a second half substitute, and centre back Simon Ford also had an outing after his recent hamstring injury.

Town took the lead shortly before half time via a spectacular overhead kick by the unmarked Jevons. After the break Mansaram put Grimsby two goals up with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

Alan Pearce pulled a goal back for the Imps on the hour mark, but Town held on and should have gone further ahead in the dying minutes when Mansaram missed a clear-cut opportunity.
