Most of us expected this. It was all going to be so easy. We would cruise to 3rd with a week to go, and rest all the key players at Tranmere ahead of the play offs. Fat F**cking chance of that now. We will probably need points from the Tranmere game to sneak in to 5th place.

He now sends out his preferred toothless setup with the fallback plan of chucking Bogle and Jennings on to claw the game back, a tactic approved and seen as astute by absolute nobody else on the planet. Two home games to play-off contenders in 4 days and no goals, and 1 point. There are no excuses, it's just p**s poor management.

After that, we look like we may just scrape into playoffs, but with no grounds for optimism. I may have wasted my early-bird play-off final ticket, but may have avoided 2 wasted journeys to Wembley. I will stick to golf, thank you-I have only myself to blame if I don't win, and there is a Green Jacket to play for next year.
