It was announced today that the latest player to be offered a trial with the Mariners is Finnish international Annti Sumiala. 26-year old Sumiala, currently playing in Finland with FC Jokerit is an experienced striker and has won 26 caps for his national side, scoring eight goals.
Most of his Sumiala's career to date has been spent in the Dutch League but he returned to his native Finland last year.
Sumiala made his league debut for home-town side Pori in 1991. After a successful first three seasons (scoring 22 goals in 37 league matches) he was given an ill-fated trial with RSC Anderlecht. In 1992 he made his international debut against Turkey and was top-scorer in the Finnish league in 1993.
