The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Friday Inspection

By: Stephen Bateman
Date: 28/12/2000

A precautionary inspection of Blundell Park will take place at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning, in order to assess whether or not Saturday's fixture between the Mariners and Portsmouth will go ahead.

Match referee Stephen Lodge will inspect the pitch after a hard frost last night followed by a sprinkling of snow this morning. Although no further snow is predicted for the Grimsby region, sleet and rain are forecast for the next three days. The Blundell Park playing surface has been showing signs of cutting up during the last few weeks but, barring an unexpected deluge, it seems likely that the game will go ahead as planned.
