Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Crunch Time Says LL

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 23/04/2001

Lennie Lawrence described Saturday's crunch game with Sheffield United "The Final Test" "The players have passed several tests of their professionalism this season. They've come back from setbacks, injuries, being a small club, going behind and they've put together performances when it matters most"

"Now's the last test" he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "To maintain the form and standards when the job in terms of staying up is virtually over." Grimsby won Sky's Team of the Week award for their Easter double.

"Having big games helps because they know they'll get hammered if they don't keep it up. It's hard to keep the edge on people, but that's the test. We could finish above a club like a Wolves, but we have to maintain the form of the last three games."

Lawrence will probably name an unchanged side for the third game running for the first time since he came to the club meaning Livingstone and Luke Cornwall continue up front.

"The team's confident and there's a hell of a lot of players who want to play. "They've earned the right to keep going and they will. "If they fail to deliver, they let somebody else in."

"The crowd have been marvellous for us. They've played a big part in the proceedings and it's the third Saturday of home games so it's get the same gear out and get yourself along there.

"The crowd at West Brom were good and there's a buzz about the place. It's imperative for us that we maintain it until the end of the season."
