Stace to Sign New Contract

GRIMSBY TOWN hope to receive a boost later this week when tough-tackling midfielder Stacy Coldicott is expected to put pen to paper on a new two year contract. The former Baggie is one of a quartet of players still figuring in Lawrence's plans for next season yet to commit themselves to the club.

Coldicott was brought to Blundell Park from Albion by then manager Alan Buckley in July 1998, in what was the Mariners first season back in Division One, following their Wembley double promotion season of 1997-98. The Redditch-born midfielder picked up three supporters awards in the second of his three seasons at Blundell Park, and made 34 starts last campaign, netting just once.

The remaining players out of contract are Wayne Burnett, Peter Handyside and Kevin Donovan, of which the latter is expected to leave the club for pastures new in the summer. Press speculation that West Brom are interested in signing Peter Handyside on a Bosman was quashed today after Baggies chief executive John Wile dismissed the rumours, telling Planetfootball.com: "I've spoken to the manager and the chairman and neither of them know anything about this".
