Beharall Loan Latest

ON-LOAN Newcastle defender David Beharall won't be allowed to play for Grimsby if the Mariners draw Newcastle in the Worthington cup. The centre back was given a last minute reprieve to play in the Anfield victory, but the same favour would not be forthcoming if the Geordies were the opposition.

Beharall's loan deal runs out after this weekend's game against Sheffield Utd but the 22-year-old is hoping that Lennie Lawrence will be able to persuade the Magpies to let him play at Blundell Park for the remainder of the season. An announcement is expected early next week on any loan extension for the Newcastle-born centre back.

"...It would be great if Grimsby could draw another big name..."

The 6 foot defender revealed: "It would be great if Grimsby could draw another big name, like Chelsea or Leeds, but not Newcastle as I wouldn't be allowed to play. If Newcastle wanted me it would be different, but there are a lot of centre halves at the club".
