Who's Next For The Hot Seat?

IT LOOKS as though Grimsby's "Harry Houdini" may be off, although at present this is an unconfirmed rumour. Personally, I think this would be a great tragedy for reasons I've made clear in my previous article. However, there is a dark cloud hanging over the club after a home defeat to Norwich City.

Having said that, given the club's fluctuating fortunes, if we are to entertain life without Lennie, there are no shortage of candidates with a spate of managers being sacked in recent weeks.

  • Stuart Gray may wish to try again after a nightmare "upstairs" in the Premiership.
  • The popular choice would be seeing Cockers take over. This would be the best option as continuity would keep the club running smoothly. He would obviously be the caretaker choice, having twice occupied that position in the past.
  • David Moyes worked wonders as Preston boss. Could he do the same job for us?
  • Another option I would consider is Paul Groves as player-boss.

Whoever it is, if anyone, we owe Lennie a lot for last year's heroics just staying in this division. Whatever happens, there is plenty of talent in the squad - it's just getting them to play again. The addition of John Oster may provide creativity we've been missing since Kingsley left us!

Is time going to be called on Lennie reign? Only time will tell.

One thing's for sure: It's a tough job!
