Groves Looking For Revenge Against Rotherham

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 29/01/2002

PAUL GROVES declared today that he will be going all out for revenge in the match at Rotherham tonight saying the side are all fired up to avenge that miserable performance four months ago.

In an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph Groves said: "There are one or two results we'd like to erase and that Rotherham game at home is one of them. We'd like to erase it with a victory and reap some revenge.

"It's a big game because of the positions of the two teams but every game between now and the end of the season is a big game for us."

But Groves must decide who to partner loan striker Robert Taylor with. "Bradley Allen has played a couple of Reserve games but isn't quite ready so it will be one from Michael Jeffrey, Michael Boulding and Chris Thompson."

"We're not going to go there and be silly, but we will be going to win the game, and we don't go into any game aiming to contain teams."

"They're powerful and direct and they'll look to throws and free-kicks to get at us. They'll be a threat in the air. They did try and get it down and pass and play a bit against Crewe and that result could go either way for us."

"It could give them a kick up the backside or it could have an affect on their confidence. We'll be hoping it's done the latter."

Grimsby Town: Coyne, Butterfield, Groves, Ford, Gallimore, Chapman, Willems, Coldicott, Burnett, Campbell, Taylor, Jeffrey, Croudson, Boulding, Thompson, Raven, D Smith.

Rotherham: Pollitt, Scott, Swailes, McIntosh, Hurst, Sedgwick, Mullin, Talbot, Watson, Warne, Barker, Gray, Lee, Robins, Monkhouse, Branston.
