The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Fry's Gain - Town's Loss!

PETERBOROUGH boss Barry Fry is desperate to hang on to former Grimsby Town striker Bradley Allen who hit his first Posh goal in the 5-1 demolition of Brentford last Saturday.

The Grimsby Telegraph says that his short-term contract expires at the end of December, but Fry has seen enough to convince him he must keep hold of the striker, though any offer will depend on an ongoing takeover saga which is hanging over the club.

"There's nothing I'd like more than to sign Bradley up for the next couple of seasons because he showed against Brentford what a quality player he can be," said Fry. "Obviously I will try all I can to extend his contract, but my hands are tied at present because of the muddle behind the scenes caused by the takeover saga. No-one knows what we'll be doing next week never mind next year so it's difficult to talk about contracts with anyone."

"I was keen to sign Bradley in the summer, but for one reason or another I couldn't and it's turned out be a very frustrating situation."

"Bradley's a different sort of player to the other strikers I have at the club and he's also a quality finisher. If he was here all season I'd be confident of plenty of goals so it's crucial that we do all we can to hang on to him."

Allen said: "I've enjoyed it here and I'm very willing to talk about staying here beyond Christmas, I've settled in very quickly and once I've had a run of games and got back to full fitness I'll be sharper. "I was pleased with my performance on Saturday, but I'm sure I can get better."
