Oster Says No To Return Offer!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 13/02/2003

JOHN Oster has declined an offer to return to Grimsby Town saying he wants to concentrate on regaining his premiership place with Sunderland.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports that Oster has knocked back an offer from Paul Groves for a third stint at Blundell Park.

"I had my bad injury and going to Grimsby was always going to be about me getting some match practice," said Oster.

"I've only played in a couple of games as a substitute since I've been back at Sunderland. But the team isn't doing too well and you'd think you'd get a chance. Hopefully mine will come in the next couple of games.

"I want to get back in the side and play. That's what I'm concentrating on now. Getting back playing first team football with Sunderland."

Town fans will be sad to hear that news but will remember that Oster came to us when he was badly needed and played his part well while he was with us. Let us hope he fulfils his ambition.
