Stewart Snubs Mariners!

MANCHESTER United midfielder Michael Stewart is the latest player to turn down the chance to come to Blundell Park on loan, once again thwarting Grimsby boss Paul Groves' plans to bring in new blood. Although Man Utd are understood to have given the nod to the move, the player turned it down.

The 21-year-old Scottish international joins Carlos Marinelli, John Oster, Curtis Woodhouse and Junior Lewis, all of whom have rejected chances to further their careers by joining the Mariners on loan.

Ironically many of those players who have come on loan to Blundell Park this season have benefited from the move. In particular, Steve Kabba's goals for the Mariners brought him to the attention of Sheffield United, who snapped him up from Palace for £250K.

Similarly John Oster's silky skills caused him to be recalled by Sunderland, after doing so well at Blundell Park, and be picked again for the Welsh national squad.
