Wolves Game Likely To Be Postponed!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 27/02/2003

IT is almost certain that the Grimsby versus Wolves game will be postponed due to international call ups with Wolves facing call-ups of up to nine of their players and they already face 11 games in 35 days and five successive midweek matches.

The weekend is earmarked for the next round of the Euro 2004 qualifiers with Scotland hosting Iceland, the Republic of Ireland travelling to Georgia and Wales entertaining Azerbaijan on the same day as the Grimsby game.

Grimsby also have three Welsh internationals in Danny Coyne, Darren Barnard and John Oster leaving the likelihood of postponement virtually certain.

"It's very much more than likely that the Grimsby game will have to be called off," said Wolves secretary Richard Skirrow. "But we can't request postponements until we receive notification of the call-ups."

The earliest date the Grimsby game could be re-arranged is the week starting April 7.
