IN response to the article in Monday's Grimsby Telegraph, the club feel that the piece does not properly reflect Russell Slade's feelings.
Everyone connected to the club is fully aware of how important the fans are to the Mariners. Russell made the point that he would love to win more games in front of the Blundell Park faithful but come May if we are promoted with a better away record than home; this is what he will be judged on.
The club recognises how important it is to entertain the fans on match days as commercially this is what drives Grimsby Town forward.
We are in the entertainment and results business and these are things that hopefully work in tandem together. The comments attributed to Russell were in no way meant to be derogatory to any of the club's loyal supporters.
Ultimately, we want success and promotion, and our league form to date shows that we are doing very well so far in our attempt to gain this.
This site is by the fans, for the fans, and we will consider articles on any subject relating to the Mariners whether it be related to current news, a nostalgic look back in the past, a story about a player, a game or games in the past, something about Blundell Park or football in general.
