Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

More Than Ever!
More Than Ever!

Your Club Needs You More Than Ever!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 18/01/2007

ON Thursday the 25th January at 6.30pm at the Grimsby town hall, the NELC Planning Committee will be meeting to decide whether to grant planning permission or not. But in doing so, they will also be making a decision on the future of your club.

Blundell Park cannot keep getting safety certificates issued based on the premis that we are planning a new stadium. Clubs with older wooden type stands are granted safety certificates in the short term (with certain restrictions) if a new stadium is in the offing.

If planning permission is not granted, it also leaves Blundell Park's future in jeopardy.

That is one of the main reasons that during the Bill Carr reign, the board acted to assess the feasibility of a new stadium which is why today we have moved forward to the stage where we are seeking planning permission.

Now it's your turn!

You can be assured that on that evening, the Great Coates objectors will be there in force and they will be getting there early! The council are aware of this and have decided to open two rooms with the proceedings beamed to the second room.

It is vital therefore that as many fans as possible can get to the Town Hall to show the support that the project has in the community.

Councillors are politically sensitive and know that no matter what the decision is, there will be some comeback somewhere.

If the Great Coates objectors outnumber the supporters of the project, they just might wonder just how much we really support it.

We cannot allow that to happen.

We need as many supporters there as we can get. This is the last chance Town has got to move forward. How bad would it be if the project was canned because of apathy?

Too many times in the past have we seen the 'Leave it to someone else' reaction to our problems.

This time we cannot afford to do that.

If you are a true supporter of Grimsby Town Football Club and you live reasonably close enough to be there, you will be there showing your colours. Nothing noisy or abusive. Just a showing that the fans and supporters support the project and their club.

Nothing less will do.

We need you there! As early as you can!

We have set up a special Fishy message board HERE so that you can let us know that you will be there.

Let us see how many true supporters we have.

Grimsby Town Football Club has been in existence for well over a hundred years. There has never been a more important project in all its history as this one.

YOU can help make it happen. Just by being there!
