Loan Pair Agree New Deals

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/12/2009

LOAN pair Olly Lancashire (Southampton) and Michael Coulson (Barnsley) have both agreed to extend their loans at Blundell Park until the end of January. They join midfielder Damien McCrory (Plymouth ) in staying for a second month on loan. All three have been first team regulars since Neil Woods took over.

One downside is that despite re-signing for Town Lancashire is unlikely to play until at least Boxing Day due to a hamstring problem sustained at Shrewsbury.

Town boss Woods Neil Woods told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Both Olly and Michael have agreed to stay for another month and that's fantastic news for us.

"I'm very pleased because they have proved great additions for us.

"I don't think anyone would argue that their performances have been a big factor in the improvement for the team in terms of results and displays.

"We're thankful for both of their clubs and it is a big boost to us ahead of what is always a busy time over Christmas with three games in eight days after this weekend's match with Morecambe."

Grim Rob Says Whoever has been in charge we've always done better with a settled side, and the endless procession of loan players in recent times often seems to make little difference. So to see it stop and Town stick with the players they have seems a good move. No doubt January will see a few more players arrive at Blundell Park though when the transfer window re-opens! Who knows perhaps Grimsby could considering buying some of their loanees.
