Town Pair Depart

NICK Colgan and Lewis Gobern have both departed the club, their contracts terminated "by mutual consent". The pair have been on the fringes of the squad at best, so their absence is unlikely to have much impact.

Colgan was first choice goalkeeper last season, when Town were relegated. He had some good games, but made too many mistakes and was demoted to number two 'keeper with the acquisition of Kenny Arthur in the summer. Colgan has struggled with injuries this campaign and barely featured for Town, even on the bench.

Gobern arrived from MK Dons in the summer with some promise, but it failed to materialise after a series of injuries, personal and lifestyle problems limited the 25-year-old to just just seven starts. The final straw was a training ground bust up with a team mate last year, which led to both players being fined, and a broken nose for Gobern.

There are three weeks left in the transfer window for Neil Woods to shuffle his pack should he wish to. Several Town players are also rumoured to be attracting the interest of other sides. Rob Atkinson and Peter Bore, who are both out of contract in the summer, recently turned down new contract offers, although that doesn't necessarily mean they will leave.

With the Mariners scoring a club record thirteen goals in the last two league games there is likely to be interest in Neil Woods's players though.
