Macclesfield v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 04/04/2013

GRIMSBY head to Macclesfield for their third game in five days hoping that this time they manage to arrive at the ground on time. The original Friday night fixture had to be postponed after an accident on the M62 and it was not possible to play again until now.

Grimsby have finally picked up three points and Monday's results make their league position look a lot healthier. Town have not lost for three games now, and it's crucial that they don't lose tonight otherwise it opens the door for the teams below them, including Macclesfield. A win for Grimsby tonight would see the Mariners close the gap on Newport and Wrexham and Town would be starting to look above them again rather than below.

One of the biggest factors is going to fitness. Both teams have played a lot of games recently. Town had first teamers Thomas, Southwell, Thanoj, John-Lewis and Taylor on the bench on Monday so some of them may come back into the team. Liam Hearn and Derek Niven could also come back into the team if they are deemed fit enough.

Macclesfield have been inconsistent for most of the season which is why they find themselves just below the play-offs. They did well to get a draw at Wrexham on Monday, but drew with Stockport and lost to Barrow, both sides that Town have played recently and picked up more points against.

Fishy Prediction: Macclesfield 1 Grimsby 2
