Stalemate at Luton

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/09/2013 (Last updated: 09/09/2013)

GRIMSBY and Luton clashed in the televised clash at Kenilworth Lane on Saturday evening, but neither side could break the deadlock. Both sides are left in midtable in the formative league standings.

Luton dominated the first half but missed their chances. Town had the better of the game after the break but didn't really create enough in front of goal.Overall the Hatters had 17 shots compared to Town's 3, and it was the home side who had most of the possession. But Town were defensively solid and the pick of the players was centre back Shaun Pearson. The only worry for the Mariners was captain Craig Disley limped off with two minutes two go, and could hardly even walk.

In post match comments Town manager Paul Hurst suggested that his erstwhile partner Rob Scott could be returning to his joint manager role following his recent suspension.

Elsewhere Cambridge and Nuneaton both notched up impressive wins, the latter beating Wrexham 2-0 to claim yet another full time scalp. Lincoln were knocked off their perch with a 1-0 defeat at home to Salisbury. Aldershot beat Macclesfield to overcome their 10 point deduction and get off negative points in the table.
