Embleton to Stay

ELLIOT Embleton has extended his loan spell at Blundell Park until the end of the season. The 19-year-old midfielder has been on loan from Sunderland until the end of 2018, but the extension will see him remain in Cleethorpes until May.

Embleton has been the best player on the pitch in many of Grimsby's games this season since he arrived in September. He is eligible to play in Saturday's FA Cup game at Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Danny Collins and Akin Famewo are both close to a return and could feature in the Palace game. Town's defence has been decimated by injuries and suspension and the Mariners were forced to play a makeshift back 4 in the 1-0 defeat by Mansfield.

Town were second best against the Stags but lacked the cutting edge to really break down one of the division's best sides.
