The New Faces

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/07/2022

GRIMSBY begin their campaign on Saturday at Leyton Orient and are likely to field a mixture of old and new faces in their first starting line-up of the new campaign.

Here are the players the Mariners have signed over the summer, some of whom will make their debut for the Mariners. With 5 subs allowed this season, it's likely that quite a few players will get some game time.

As ever, forwards prove elusive but Town's squad is packed full of new midfielders and competition for places will be especially stiff in that area.

Defenders

  • Anthony Glennon - 22-year-old left back who resigned for the Mariners having been on loan here in 2020.
  • Niall Maher - 26-year-old defender signed from Halifax
  • Andy Smith - 20-year-old defender who returns on loan from Hull for his second spell with Grimsby.

    Midfielders

  • Kieran Green - 25-year-old central midfielder signed from Halifax
  • Otis Khan - 26-year-old attacking midfielder signed from Leyton Orient
  • Brendan Kiernan - 29-year-old winger on loan from Walsall
  • Bryn Morris - 26-year-old defensive midfielder signed from Burton
  • Stephen Wearne - 21-year-old attacking midfielder signed from Sunderland

    Forwards

  • Danilo Orsi - 26-year-old striker signed from Harrogate
