Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Rodger Is Our Leader
Rodger Is Our Leader

Let's Get Behind Rodger!

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 27/06/2006

AFTER what has happened since the play-off defeat at the end of May, isn't it about time we got behind our new manager and gave him our backing because reading things that are put on the message board a lot of people think he's an cheap option for the job.

Another thing people are moaning about is the introduction to our new playing squad of ex-Grimsby Town players and also having a dig whether they are up to the job or not. Do you honestly think the club and Graham Rodger would put their creditability on the line by signing so called "crocks" to do a job for them next season?

Isn't it about time that people also understood that all good managers sign players they all know about and with Rodger being here for sixteen years under different guises at the club if he thinks that's the way to get out of League Two - whether we agree with it or not - he should have our 100% backing for the next two seasons and then we all can stand back and start knocking the way Rodger's doing the job.

Personally I'd like to see the likes of Rankin, Pouton and Lester back in our first team squad as they've gone away, got more experience in higher leagues, and come back to help our beloved Grimsby Town out of League Two at the third attempt.

I for one will be down to Blundell Park next week to renew my season ticket no matter who will be gracing the turf at the start of the forthcoming season opener against Boston.
