Carlsberg Sponsors Renamed John Smith's Stand

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 06/07/2006

Lager giant Carlsberg has signed a deal to sponsor the Findus Stand at Blundell Park which will now be known as the Carlsberg Stand. They will also now supply the bars with their product.

Town's Commercial manager, David Smith, told the Grimsby Telegraph; "I am delighted we have signed the agreement. The John Smith's deal was coming to an end and Carlsberg approached us and came up with a deal which we felt was more beneficial to Grimsby Town."

"It is a partnership which we hope will be a fruitful one, especially when you look at the links Carlsberg have in football - with England and Liverpool but to name just two."

The stand is also home to McMenemy's lounge, the boardroom, the executive boxes and virtually all the offices associated with the club's administration.

Mr Smith said: "The support that the local business community gives the Mariners is second to none. "I would like to say a whole-hearted thanks to everyone who continues to support Grimsby Town."

Gareth Roberts, sponsorship controller for Carlsberg UK, said: "We are keen to work as a partnership to benefit both the club and the community. As the official beer of the England team this adds to our portfolio of clubs from international level through to the Football League. We are very excited to be working with Grimsby."
