Injury List 19/01

By: Peter Forrester
Date: 19/01/2001

In an update to this regular feature, Peter Forrester brings you the latest news on the players missing from the first team squad on a regular basis. Today's update includes news of three players: John McDermott. Matthew Bloomer, and Bradley Allen.

  • John McDermott: The veteran right back received the results of his MRI this week, and thankfully the scan showed that there was nothing too serious to report. The longest serving player in Town's history will still not be available for selection at least for another week.

  • Matthew Bloomer: The 22-year-old defender is still under strict orders to rest his foot which Bloomer damaged in a reserve match against Shrewsbury. Many feel Bloomer should be given a chance in the first team and the sooner he returns the more likely first team action would seem, with Lennie Lawrence's apparent preference for a squad rotation system.

  • Bradley Allen: Many a Town fan is looking forward to the return of top scorer "Brads", as Allen is arguably Town's main threat in the penalty box on his day. The ex-Charlton striker is continuing to recover well from his ankle injury and it is hoped he will be in full training in just under a month.
