Newey Is Staying - GTFC

Date: 12/06/2006

TOM Newey will remain at Blundell Park next season as the club have made him an improved offer which is part of his contract and that keeps him a Town Player.

Town chairman John Fenty told Mariners Net: "Because Tom is under 24 we have the right to retain his player registration for another season - but we do have to offer Tom improved terms as part of the agreement."

"Because we do hold Tom's registration, any move for him would have to be done through Grimsby Town."

"We see Tom as a major part of our squad and we have made an improved offer to him, effectively keeping him at the club."
