Derek Niven Signs

MIDFIELDER Derek Niven has joined Grimsby following a successful trial at the club. The 28-year-old has signed a one year contract at Blundell Park after impressing in trial games against Grimsby Borough and Gainsborough.
The Scot spent most of his career at Chesterfield where he made over 300 appearances, but was released in the summer. Other than 1 match played with his first club Raith, and 4 games when on loan at Northampton last year, Niven has only ever represented the Spireites, although he did have a spell at Bolton under Sam Allardyce the central midfielder never played a first team game here.
