More Come to see Morecambe

GRIMSBY continued their fine run with another victory, against Morecambe at home, that sees the Mariners climb above the 40 point mark. Town battled the weather to chalk up a 2-1 win with goals from Hanson and Benson, with Morecambe scoring a late consolation.

Ian Holloway shuffled his pack to make full use of his squad. Elliot Grandin came in for Harry Clifton in midfield in what was an otherwise similar line-up to the side which took the field at Bradford and most of the changes for Colchester had been reversed, despite the 3-2 win.

Both sides had chances in the first half of the game, with Morecambe shading it in forcing a couple of saves from James McKeown.

Town turned up the screw after the break and broke the deadlock when a superb ball by Billy Clarke and a great finish by Hanson, clipping it past the keeper into the bottom corner to give the Mariners the lead.

Grimsby had more chances but gave themselves daylight with a heavily deflected free-kick which saw Benson's strike give the keeper no chance.

Luke Waterfall's ill-timed back-pass forced McKeown to handle the ball the Phillips scored from the resulting indirect free-kick for what was a consolation.

Town overcame the conditions and played some good football for a deserved win.
