The fact that Barnet still have had a football intelligence copper despite all of the cuts to the police force we hear about is unbelievable .
REST OF POST REMOVED
Barnet themselves would have to foot the bill for that wouldn't they, whether they liked it or not?

Magistrate "benches" are usually made up of three people one of whom must have a recognised legal qualification. I am astounded therefore that whoever was the legal representative on this panel didn't pick up on the "reasonable doubt" aspect given the circumstances detailed in the evidence. As far as I'm aware there is no scientific evidence to support the "out of body" experience idea and for the W.P.C. in question to have heard verbatim the comment amongst all the noise being generated stretches the boundaries of probability way beyond the norm. I was stood to the right of the goal and couldn't hear myself think never mind what someone feet away from me was saying. I suspect the problem now will be that to launch an appeal would be costly with Legal Aid probably a "no-no".
My other half was a serving Magistrate for a number of years and i'm pretty sure she would not have found Mr Meech guilty had she been on the panel. May have been outvoted by the others but not all Magistrates are social climbing twonks.

Please don't accuse others of contempt of court otherwise you might end up in court yourself. Annoying as this case is do we really want to prolong it further ?

A woman who assaulted a man with the heel of her stilettos (ans not the first time) got less than Mr Meech.

Spot on mate. The magistrate system is and should remain one of the pillars of the British judicial system. I'm just surprised that there was wasn't a more rigorous examination of balance of probability in this case...

I would just like to add that I was sat in the seats on the side of the pitch,
Which was a lot quieter than behind the goal,
When we scored I could not hear what people around me were saying,
So how that police officer could hear what the defendant said from that distance is amazing.
I am sure this case would be thrown out of court if he appealed.

The Hillsborough inquiry (and many others) has shown how police officers are able to see and hear certain pieces of evidence that us mere mortals cannot.

FFS what is that weedy tw@t doing even taking a job as a steward and who on earth decided not only to employ him but to put him on duty for only the second time at a high profile match like Barnet v Town?
He looks as if a strong puff of wind would blow him over and WTF is the £100 compo award all about? That has to be the most ridiculous part of it all. Compo for what FFS? Fish slime on his baseball hat perhaps or is he now claiming to be so terrified of sharks that he daren't go to his local swimming pool ? Actually it doesn't look like he's seen water (or soap) for some time IMO.
Bet the skinny little sod is claiming benefits as well as stewarding

Linked in that article is another case mentioned .... Another GTFC fan arrested at .... Barnet
Only noticed that thanks to you. Another example of the ridiculous double standards of the CPS.

Balance of probability only applies in civil cases. In criminal cases it is the much higher degree of proof i.e' of beyond reasonable doubt.'
