The Forest Green manager is obviously the guy who was at Notts County, so he saw Harry put in some good performances in the latter part of the season.
Burchnall is widely mocked for his shamelessly data-led approach. If he’s looking for a midfield engine and he’s got his spreadsheet sorted by yards run per game, there won’t be many higher up the list than our Harry.

Clifton is criminally under-rated IMO.
Don’t often disagree with your opinion Ginny but I certainly do re Harry. Great work rate, great commitment but sadly not a great first touch, not a great passer of the ball and pretty poor in front of goal despite getting in great goal scoring positions. Still life would be boring if we all had the same thoughts and opinions on players.

He's been by far and away our most consistent performer in the last two seasons. I suppose we won't know until he plays at that level, but he's been comfortable at every level he's played at.
Has he? Yet Hurst doesn't trust him enough to play him in the middle of Midfield? I like him, but he needs to improve his decision making and he gives away the ball too much. He needs to learn how to look after the ball better.

Clifton certainly isn’t underrated by our fans, I’d go so far as to say it’s probably the other way. We all know what he brings and his work rate is superb but it’d be naive to say we don’t need better to challenge at the upper end of League 2. I’d be disappointed if we don’t have an actual left winger starting next season.

We've offered Harry Clifton a deal. It's up to him whether he signs or goes elsewhere.
If rumours about FGR are true he would only be human if he was tempted.
Now let me just say I like Harry. And there is no doubt he has improved each season. He is still young and can get better.
His biggest assets are his work rate commitment and versatility.
But for me there are areas of his game he needs to improve upon if he is to be an impact player at L2 or L 1.
The big one being more composed on the ball and when chances fall his way. Too often he seems to get rushed and gives the ball away cheaply or snatches at chances. I don't know if it's a lack of confidence or not.
He lacks that bit of pace to be a genuine wide player and seems better suited to a central role but Hursty doesn't seem to trust him in there at the moment..
I hope he stays but if he decides to go whilst we would miss his running he is not irreplaceable.
Whatever he decides I wish him well.

I’m pretty relaxed about who signs and who doesn’t. Some good players left the club over the course of the season; Towler, Hunt, Bapaga, Bell, (Callum) Jones. I don’t think there is a single instance whereby a suitable if not better alternative wasn’t found by Hurst.
Should there be leavers, we now have the opportunity to try and do the same, only this time with league status and a substantially reinforced budget to our name.
What will be will be. Stay cool.

I actually think it is more a case of Hurst not trusting some of the wingers he has had this season to do as disciplined a job as Clifton.

Fair point, There’s names there that would start ahead of Harry.

Jason has said that the aim is to improve in every transfer window.
Hurst has released a fair number of players, so plenty of space to bring in new ones, all of whom will probably be L2 standard and above.
I am confident that the new squad will be even better than the one we ended the season with.
But I will always look back on that squad with great affection.
